Abby & Andrew | An Autumn Wedding Under the Michigan Skies

What can I say about Abby and Andrew? I’ve been photographing Andrew’s family for years, so when Abby reached out and asked me to capture their wedding day, I was truly honored. There’s something so special about documenting a love story when you’ve already witnessed the family grow and evolve through your lens over the years — it feels personal, almost like coming home.

From the very first email, I could tell that this day was going to be something special. Abby’s mother told me I was her very first vendor choice — she said Abby loved how I could always make Andrew laugh — and that simple compliment touched me deeply. It reminded me why I love what I do: creating comfort, connection, and joy through my camera.

The morning of the wedding arrived with an overcast sky — a quintessential Michigan autumn day. We all kept one hopeful eye on the forecast with the hopes that the rain would holdoff since the ceremony was set to take place beneath a grand old tree, with rows of cornfields as the backdrop — a meaningful nod to Andrew’s family and their farming roots.

As the day unfolded, the clouds began to shift. The rain eased just long enough for their vows beneath that tree, surrounded by the golden hues of fall and the warmth of family and friends. The colors were rich, the air carried that crisp, earthy scent of harvest season, and every little detail felt perfectly, effortlessly them.

Even with the unpredictable weather, their day was absolutely beautiful. There was laughter, there were tears, and there was so much love in every glance, every touch, every moment.

This is one of those weddings I’ll always remember — the kind that lingers in your heart long after the last dance. I hope that when Abby and Andrew look back through their photos, they’ll not only remember how everything looked, but how it felt — tender, joyful, and a little bit magical.
